Yasuhiro Suzuki was born 1979 in Hamamatsu, Shizuoka. He graduated from Tokyo Zokei University, Department of Design, in 2001, and is presently a full-time instructor for Scenography, Display and Fashion Design at Musashino Art University, and a research associate at the University of Tokyo’s Research Center for Advanced Science and Technology (Nakamura Lab).
In videos and installations themed around things that we all experience in daily life, and objects that are so familiar that we don’t even pay attention, Suzuki directs the viewer’s awareness toward “invisible words”. Next to participating in exhibitions in Japan and abroad, he has been involved in commissioned works for public spaces, and actively collaborates with research institutions and firms. His large recapitulative exhibition at Art Tower Mito’s Contemporary Art Gallery attracted public attention in 2014.
Including an essay by the author, this newest collection of works by Yasuhiro Suzuki traces the artist’s increasingly profound thoughts since the publication of Blinking and Flapping, this time staged on and around the “Earth”.
